Cant wait to shoot the wedding in Nashville! See you in June!

“HOW WE MET”

David and I met in a quite unusual way. I was in Nashville for a girl’s trip and he was just getting into town from San Diego. Since traveling so far home, his schedule was a little off because the time changes. So, he decided to go out to see if that would make him tired. He came to the Tin Roof and met some friends and that’s where I happened to be. It was towards the end of the night when he came to sit down in the booth I was in. He had come to talk to my friend I was with, because he knew her too. When he saw me, the first words out of his mouth were, “So you’re the girl in the green dress that everyone keeps talking about. I’m kind of tired of hearing about you.” I did not like his sarcasm to say the least. (I later found out that’s his way of flirting….go figure!) To make a long story short, we met up the next day. It was just him and two of my girlfriends there. We had some funny conversations and our personalities clicked instantly. We were asking him what he did for a living and he told us that he worked at Home Depot. I really believed him and went about the conversation. It wasn’t until I was almost back home to Memphis that someone told me what he really did. And I honestly think that says something about his character and humility. Once it was time to leave, I was getting my stuff together and told a friend, “He is just so adorable and funny, I want to take him back to Memphis with us.” he did not go to Memphis with us that day, but two weeks went by that we talked on the phone and were trying to figure out a way and time to see each other again. I got a phone call at 9:00 on a Friday morning from him saying he couldn’t wait any longer to see me. He packed up his bags and drove from Nashville to Memphis in the pouring down rain. (he actually lost a windshield wiper on the way down.) We decided to meet up at a mall when he got in town. I remember it like it was yesterday. He got out of the car, walked a couple feet until he saw me across the parking lot. I didn’t know what else to do except for what felt natural…..I ran as fast as I could and jumped on him while giving him the biggest hug. I was so excited to see him again. We spent an incredible weekend together in Memphis. He met my parents that weekend as well and they understood exactly what was happening between us. It was only the beginning to a beautiful love story…..

“THE PROPOSAL”

David decided to ride with me back to Memphis at the last minute. I was going to Memphis for a wedding I was hired to coordinate. Never did I expect him to come with me. It wasn’t going to be an eventful weekend besides being at a wedding. He told me he would just hang out with my folks, watch football, and eat some BBQ (his favorite!). Of course I always want his company or atleast to know he is near, so I was happy when he told me he’d be along for the ride. Saturday morning came and my mom made us pancakes when we woke up. It’s sort of a Saturday morning tradition at the Werne house. At lunch, David requested we go eat at one of the BBQ restaurants we had not tried yet. Coincidently the name of the place was The One and Only. :) It really was some of the best BBQ! Once lunch was over, I had to leave to be at the wedding. It was during this time that I was gone when David asked both my parents for their blessing in our marriage. He said he was so nervous, his stomach was in his throat. My parents absolutely love David and they said yes. He told them that he didn’t have a ring yet, but was going to look at some places while I was gone. He found a ring that day!! He bought the ring and planned on asking me once we got back to Nashville. He waited a whopping FOUR hours before he asked me. As soon as I got home from the wedding, we went to Bonefish. After that, we went for a walk outisde because it was a beautiful night. He started telling me how much he loved me and couldn’t go one day without me. He said that’s how he knew I was the one. He then proceeded to tell me that he knew he was created to be a husband and a father among other things, but those were the things he wanted most. He got down on one knee and said with confidence that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me! At first I couldn’t believe what was happening so I was saying, “Nuh uh…get up!” Then I saw the ring… I screamed and cried (really loud) “YES!!!” And just like when I saw him in the parking lot at the mall that day, I jumped in his arms and knew that I could do that for the rest of my life!
